Beginner costumes are worn for the first year of competition. The Lavin-Cassidy Beginner costume consists of the following:

Navy pleated skirt - To be worn 2 inches above the knee. An elasticized waist is a good idea as the skirt can be rolled at the top and will last longer. Skirts can be purchased at Zemsky's, Burlington Coat Factory, or Target. Target has blue pleated skirts with shorts underneath which would be most ideal.

White blouse - The blouse can be long sleeved or short sleeved. You can use a school blouse. Please be sure that the blouse is nice and white. A

"Kelly Green" Bow - Should be tied around the collar of the blouse. Use a 3/4" thick ribbon for this.

White and Green Headband - This is a white headband with a green ribbon threaded through it. You can purchase these at Touch of Ireland (95th St/Oak Park Ave.). You may also purchase this headband from our dressmaker, Julie Richert.

Full-to-the-Waist Navy Underwear - Needed unless you purchase a skirt that has shorts underneath. Can be purchased at Star Dance Wear, Orland Park.

Soft Shoes - You can purchase gently-used shoes from the Lavin-Cassidy shoe fairy or new shoes at Touch of Ireland or through Ballinvilla Products..

Poodle Socks - Can be purchased at Touch of Ireland.

Hair - You can purchase a wig from Terri O'Hare (708) 361-3199 OR you can use soft pink rollers to curl your child's hair. Note that you should roll your child's hair the night before a performance or competition. Rollers should then be removed the following morning and the curls pulled apart to produce a soft curl. The sides are taken up in a pony tail which should be in a pony tail which should be pulled up before you put in the rollers.
